Nicollet, Pine, Waseca, Chisago and Scott county offices have closed and farmers' records have been transferred to neighboring offices.

The Minnesota Farm Service Agency recently announced that five FSA offices in the state are closing and consolidating with neighboring offices.

The specific office closures are:

-The Nicollet County FSA office located in Saint Peter closed August 6 and consolidated with the Blue Earth County office in Mankato.

-The Pine County FSA office located in Hinckley closed August 8 and consolidated with the Kanabec County office in Mora.

-The Waseca County FSA office located in Waseca closed August 8 and consolidated with the Steele County office in Owatonna.

-The Chisago County FSA office located in North Branch August 9 and consolidated with the Isanti County office in Cambridge.

-The Scott County FSA office located in Jordan closed August 9 and consolidated with the Dakota County office in Farmington.

On May 29, 2012, FSA received approval from Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack to proceed with the implementation of the county office consolidation plan, which is part of the USDA's "Blueprint for Stronger Service." The five FSA offices slated for closure in Minnesota were announced in January and May of this year, as part of the overall Blueprint for Stronger Service plan implementation process.

"Customers have been notified of the forthcoming office consolidations and will have their farm records automatically transferred to the new administrative office for uninterrupted service effective on the day of office closure." Linda Hennen, executive director, said. "Customers have also been given an opportunity to select a different office through which to do their business if the new administrative office will not be convenient for them."
