Fortunes Improve For Maine Farmer
Clinton family wins a MF zero-turn mower in a national drawing.

Richard Crommett didn't have to buy a lottery ticket to come up a big winner. He, wife Cherry and nephew Dana won Massey Ferguson's Crank It Up sweepstakes. And, next spring, the Clinton, Maine, family will be spinning around on a new 60-inch ZT29 zero-turn commercial mower.

A trip to buy tractor wheel bearings at Northwood Power Equipment’s Hermon, Maine, store was the clincher. "It’s been really hard to believe we won. After getting the news, I tried to keep busier than usual to keep from thinking about the mower and our good fortune," says Richard.

READY FOR A ZERO-TURN SPIN: Crommett recently took delivery of their sweepstakes prize.

"We almost didn’t fill out the entry form," he admits. "If this machine is as reliable as our Massey Ferguson tractor, it'll be a really good piece of equipment that we’ll use a lot."

The Crommetts are hard workers. They operate a hay-harvesting and marketing business, work throughout the community for area farmers, and raise livestock marketed through local butchers. Their pigs are in high demand as spickett hogs for barbecues and other gatherings.

The wheel bearing parts that proved to be their winning ticket was for their primary tractor for loader work, mowing and baling. The 30-hp, MF1045 four-wheel drive tractor has logged more than 5,700 hours with minimal repairs over more than 20 years on the job.

"We take good care of our machinery, keeping the oil changed and doing service and minor repairs when they’re needed," explains Richard. Mowing the Commetts five-acre property will be faster and easier next spring.

With haying, hog-raising  and more to do, the hard workers will save time with the mower's 29-hp diesel engine and it's 60-inch deck. The Crommetts were selected as winners of the Crank It Up sweepstakes through a random drawing.
