Three types of feedlot waste management system will be featured in an Aug. 22 tour in western South Dakota.
The tour starts at 1 p.m. Mountain time at The Last Call in Vale. The cost is $5 per person. A bus will take participants to feedlots to see three management systems and will return to Vale at 4:30 p.m. Call Stacy Hadrick, (605) 347-2436, to register for the tour.
The first site is H.L. Brunner & Sons Feedlot. This established feedlot was built directly on a major watershed. The Cox Feedlot near Vale is another established feedlot that utilizes runoff for field fertigation. The final stop is a vegetated treatment system at the Blair Brothers Angus Ranch north of Sturgis.
