Export News Boosts Wheat Markets

More positive export news in the wheat market has brought on double digit gains and brought corn along for the ride. (Audio)

Lower than expected production numbers from Argentina and another wheat purchase by Japan is offering strong support to the wheat complex today. Delays in government reports has the corn and soybean markets trading steady and cautious today as information will start flowing next week. Weather is drying out across the Corn Belt and combines are making progress again after a slow start to this week.

Market Analyst Paul Burgener joined the Farm Futures team in November 2012 and brings a solid ag economics background. A former University of Nebraska Extension Ag Economist with training from the University of Wyoming, Burgener brings extensive experience to his new role. Most recently, he was involved in agricultural finance, and will offer that perspective through his comments and writing.
