Making the trip to the 2015 Farm Progress Show is a great investment in helping keep your farm up to date with the latest tools and information, and now the show itself is using advanced information tools too. If you're planning on attending the show, taking a few minutes at farmprogressshow.com to use the Map Your Show tool will pay off. In fact, this year, we've retooled our smart phone app so the work you do online to set up your day with Map Your Show can now be carried in your smart phone.
Start with Map Your Show, which you'll find under the "Plan Your Visit" tab on the Farm Progress Show website. And click on My Show Planner. If you register for this service you're starting on the road to a more efficient show visit.
With My Show Planner you can locate key products you want to see and get them into a list so it's easier for you to locate them during the show. Each item you save to My Show Planner offers a link to that exhibitor's location, as well as more in-depth information about the specific product categories.
Searching online for a specific class of products - say all-terrain vehicles - you can find those companies and select those you want to see to be added to your list.
Once on your list, you're set. You have a list so you don't forget you wanted to see someone, and you have their location available that you can print out to take along to the show.
The enhancement this year is a revised app that is powered by Map Your Show. Check out the related story to learn more about the app, and how to download it.
Beyond the map function
As for the show site itself, you'll find more than the Map Your Show tool online, there are links to hotel reservation services so you can get a room. You can also get the latest directions to the show with correct maps to maximize your drive into the site - based on the latest Highway Patrol information.
In addition, International Visitors have a space they can turn to get information they can use to attend the show. There's also an International Visitor Center at the show again this year. Farm Progress Show draws visitors from more than 50 countries every year.
Under "Visitor Resources" you'll also find information about renting a golf car during the show. Rentals are made on a first-com, first-served basis, and the contact information is on the site.
And you can order Concert Tickets for the Craig Morgan Concert, Wednesday, Sept. 2. Advance tickets for the concert are $25.
And the home page for the website has information about weather at the show and the latest information. This is the page you come to each day to get a quick scoop on what's ahead for the day. That information will be posted by 7 a.m. Central time (and it will show up on the mobile version of the site).

New app offers enhanced experience
A new Farm Progress Show app takes the place of the app you've been using the past couple of years. The new app - which must be downloaded again - can be found by searching Farm Progress Show at the iTunes App Store or at the Google Play Store. The free app is tied to your Map Your Show account, so if you register on the main website, and log in using the app your list of companies to visit will appear, along with links to their location at the show.
That way work you've done at home getting ready for the show isn't lost if you have the smart phone app. And this new app also runs on a tablet too - which is an enhancement over the original app. And the maps are part of the app, which means when the cellular network gets busy at the show you'll still be able to access the maps you need.
So visit the iTunes App Store or Google Play to download the newest Farm Progress Show app.
