Dr. Cases Closes FFA Career

Dr. Cases Closes FFA Career

National advisor is retiring.

The 83rd National FFA Convention was the last convention Dr. Larry Case will attend as national advisor for the FFA.  Now retiring, Case has directed the organization since the mid 1980's. During that time, he helped with the renaming of the organization from the Future Farmers of America to FFA, with the moving of the national center to Indianapolis, and with the relocation of the national convention from Kansas City to Louisville and then to Indianapolis.

"We had to change our thinking from just production agriculture to a broader food, fiber, and natural resource system," Case said. "This has brought more urban youth into the organization and has allowed the FFA to have a more diversified ethnic mix of students."

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan says that during his career, Case has touched the lives of thousands of young people and adults, particularly in rural schools and communities.

"I want to thank him for his service and contributions to agricultural education as a teacher, federal employee, and a leader within FFA," Duncan said. "And I wish him well in retirement."
