Details Being Finalized for 11th Annual Workforce Summit

Register by Oct. 28 for best deals, hotel rates on the summit which will be Jan. 18-19 in Topeka.

Early bird registration deadline for the Kansas Workforce Summit is coming up fast on Oct. 28.

Governor Sam Brownback and Kansas Department of Commerce Secretary Pat George have once again been invited to kick off the 11th annual summit which will be held January 18 and 19, 2012, in Topeka.

Mark Mayfield will headline the 2012 Summit.

Known as "The Corporate Comedian," Mark presents solid business wisdom in a comedic style.  There are many changes forthcoming in workforce development programs.  Are we prepared for those changes?  The ability to think creatively and the ability to work with people are the two biggest items in successful change management.  Ask yourself, do you think creatively, or do you just react?  Mark's program, The Glass Ain't Half Empty, It's Just Too Big, is a humorous approach to this very serious subject and emphasizes that creativity is the key component in coping with change.

Learn change theory and creative exercises in this upbeat, fast-paced program that will leave you laughing and leave you with change management skills.

Rounding up the first day will be the Kansas Celebration and SDA Performance Awards sponsored by the Kansas Department of Commerce.  In addition, Larry Isaak, President, Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC), will present Post-Secondary Readiness.

January 19 will complete the Summit with the 2012 Legislative Update, Update from the U.S. Department of Labor, and Kansas Workforce Projections

In addition, Melanie Holmes, Vice President, World of Work Solutions, ManpowerGroup, will present The Changing World of Work

Melanie will discuss how the world is experiencing a global readjustment in which powerful forces are converging to create a new reality where business models will have to be redesigned, value propositions redefined and social systems reinvented.

With registration again limited to 300 participants, this year's Summit is filling up quickly!  Just print and complete the registration form and return with payment by 10/28/11.

If you have already registered, reserve your room at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, 1717 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, Kansas, 785-431-7200.  Be sure to mention you are attending the Kansas Workforce Summit to get the Summit Special Rates.
