Wisconsin Secretary of Agriculture Rod Nilsestuen appointed Wisconsin Farmers Union District Director Craig Myhre to serve on the Wisconsin Agricultural Producer Security Council. Myhre's term officially began July 14.
The Producer Security Council protects farmers against contractors who may default on their agreement to purchase farmers' products.
Myhre is a grain farmer from Osseo, Wis. He was elected to the WFU board in 1997 and serves as the board treasurer. He also serves as secretary of the WFU Foundation board of directors.
"It is an honor to serve on a council that safeguards producers. As a member of the ASP, I will do my best to protect the interests of Wisconsin's farmers," Myhre said.
"We are proud that Craig has been appointed to the Producer Security Council. I am confident he will be an asset to the council," said WFU President Sue Beitlich Carlson.
