Compliance Review of NCBA Completed

Association agrees to repay accounting errors and spending discrepancies.

Following a third party review, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association has agreed to repay the Cattlemen's Beef Board nearly $217,000 to clear up spending discrepancies and accounting errors that occurred during fiscal years 2008 and 2009, and the first five months of fiscal 2010.

In a statement, Forrest Roberts, NCBA's CEO, says the cattle industry understands the importance of compliance with the financial firewall that ensures checkoff funds don't support lobbying activities. He says NCBA is now following new USDA-approved guidelines to minimize mistakes.

"It's time to get this review behind us and continue to focus on the business of building a sustainable future for the U.S. beef industry," Roberts said.
