China Buys Soybeans, Mexico Buys Corn

China Buys Soybeans, Mexico Buys Corn

Mexico deal is for 120,000 mt of 2015/2016 corn, USDA says

Private exporters reported that China bought 118,000 metric tons of 2014/2015 U.S. soybeans and Mexico bought 120,000 metric tons of 2015/2016 corn, USDA said on Monday.

China is the leading buyer of U.S. soybeans and USDA's weekly export report showed that as of Sept. 4 it had bought nearly 13.34 million metric tons of the 2014/2015 crop.

As of Sept. 4, Mexico had not yet bought any 2015/2016 corn, but was the leading buyer of 2014/2015 corn with 2.87 million metric tons.

The marketing year for corn and soybeans began Sept. 1.

Export sale: China buys soybeans, Mexico buys corn.

USDA issues both daily and weekly export sales reports to the public.  Exporters are required to report to USDA any export sales activity of 100,000 tons or more of one commodity, made in one day or quantities totaling 200,000 tons or more in any reporting period.
