Cattlemen Set Up Fund in Response to Blizzards

NCBA and state cattlemen's associations have set up funds to help ranchers affected by severe storms on the High Plains.

The National Guard is helping to fly hay to cattle stranded by recent severe storms on the High Plains, but thousands of cows have already died, and with many roads, power, and other utilities not functioning because of snow and ice, ranchers are facing a difficult situation.

The national Cattlemen's Beef Association and state cattlemen's associations are running a disaster relief effort to help ranchers affected by severe winter storms in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas.

Every dollar contributed to the National Cattlemen's Foundation will directly assist farming families, as NCBA is covering all administrative costs and state cattlemen's associations are managing fund distribution.

Credit card contributions can be made by calling 1-866-BEEF-USA (1-866-233-3872), and online contributions can also be made by going to the NCF Web site at, then selecting "Make a Contribution" on the left-hand side of the screen. Donations are tax deductible.

Contributions by check can be made payable to National Cattlemen's Foundation, with "disaster relief" included on the memo line. These checks can be mailed to:

National Cattlemen's Foundation

9110 East Nichols Ave., Suite 300
Centennial, CO80112

Those able to donate hay, trucking services, or equipment should contact Courtney Pollock of NCBA at 303-850-3393.
