Can You Make Money With Sheep?

March 6 Sheep Management WisLine Program.

The March 6 Sheep Management WisLine Program will address the question: “Can you make money with sheep?” Dave Thomas, UW Extension Sheep Specialist, will discuss some of the economic challenges, especially escalating feed costs, facing all livestock producers including sheep producers and realistic financial expectations from a sheep operation. He will present different production scenarios that producers may wish to consider to increase their probability of economic success.

The March 6 Sheep Management WisLine Program will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at WisLine sites in many County Extension Offices throughout the state of Wisconsin. Contact your County Extension Office for availability in your area. The program is free, but participants must call their local County Extension Office prior to each session to register for that particular session. This will guarantee that the WisLine site is open and that adequate copies of handout materials are available. Further questions should be directed to your local County Extension Office or to Dave Thomas, Sheep Extension Specialist, UW-Madison at [email protected] or 608-263-4306.

Sheep Management WisLine programs are provided as a service of UW-Extension, Cooperative Extension and the UW-Madison, Department of Animal Sciences, and are hosted by Dave Thomas, Sheep Extension Specialist. The WisLine system provides two-way voice communications between the speakers and listeners from participating County Extension Offices in Wisconsin. Additional program information, including handouts, will be available at your County Extension Office or at
