Businesses Can Sponsor Soybean Field Guide

Agribusinesses interested in sponsoring small-batch reprints of the 2011 Soybean Disease and Pest Management Field Guide have until March 16 to place an order. The popular pocket-size reference guide is available from Iowa State University.

The Iowa State University Corn and Soybean Initiative is updating the popular pocket-sized crop field guides that are available to farmers, agribusiness people, crop consultants and others. The Soybean Disease and Pest Management Field Guide, which has the publication identification number CSI 010, was originally produced by ISU Extension in collaboration with the Iowa Soybean Association. It is currently being revised and will be renamed the Soybean Field Guide

The new Soybean Field Guide, available later this year, will have more pages, will include several new insects, will have an expanded disease section with larger or multiple disease images, will cover hail damage information, and will contain other useful updates of information.

Revised, handy reference is being renamed Soybean Field Guide

As a means of reaching a wider number of producers with the 2011 edition, the Iowa Corn and Soybean Initiative is making it possible for companies to place small-batch reprint requests and have their logos printed on a prominent place on the back cover (see image below). Orders placed by interested agribusinesses will be combined into one larger print run, making the customized reprinting available at a reasonable cost to all participants.

Businesses interested in placing an order for personalized reprints should e-mail Adam Sisson at He works for the Iowa Corn and Soybean Initiative at ISU in Ames. Orders must be submitted by March 16. In the e-mail order, indicate: 1) the number of field guides being requested (300 copy minimum order); 2) attach an .eps version of the business logo.

The final cost for individual orders can only be determined when all orders are placed; however a general estimate can be provide before an individual order is placed, says Sisson.
