Two beef cattle nutrition training sessions are set for Jan. 21 in Webster and Leola, S.D.
The South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service will host the events. The first begins at 10 a.m. at the Webster Community Room in the Day County Courthouse. The second session begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Leola Municipal Building.
Pre-registration is required before Jan. 20. Call the McPherson County Extension office, (605) 439-3331, or the Marshall County Extension office, (605) 448-5171, for information or to pre-register.
Extension educators and specialists will cover the fundamentals of ruminant nutrition with producers. The lessons will cover the digestive system, mineral nutrition, and nutrient requirements.
Bring your own feed analysis sheets to the meetings so you balance rations for their herd during the training.
Computers will be available so Extension staff can help draft rations. You'll be able to print out the information and take it with you.
