AWA Shaping Lives Campaign Raises More Than $12,000

Donors recognized at a reception.

The Association of Women in Agriculture at UW-Madison recently concluded its 2008 Shaping Lives Campaign, raising more than $12,000 for the Brick Fund, Furniture Fund and its Education Fund at the UW Foundation.

Alumni and friends who made a $500 donation to the Brick Fund received a brick, engraved with their name, on the front walk. Donations to the Brick Fund will be used to retire debt on the organization's house. The house, built in 1994, has been home to close to 400 student members over the past 15 years. Donations to the Furniture Fund will help defray the cost of new furniture for the house's 14 bedrooms, while donations to the Education Fund will be used for scholarships and other educational purposes.

Donors were recently recognized during a reception at the Association of Women in Agriculture House. Barb Lee, a Master Gardener and Association of Women in Agriculture alum, was recognized for updating the house's landscaping this fall and donating a number of plants.
