Auction Lets Farmers, Ranchers Bid for Recognition

Auction Lets Farmers, Ranchers Bid for Recognition

Ranch brand or logo will be engraved on planter in American Angus Association headquarters for winning bidder.

Would you love to see your ranch brand or logo on permanent display at American Angus Association headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.?

Well, your chance is coming up.

An auction at the Angus Trading Post website will take place from July 1 to 10 a.m. on July 11 will let cattlemen bid for the honor of having their brand or logo permanently engraved into a polished black granite planter in the AAA headquarters front entrance.

The winning bidder will be announced just prior to the champion owned-heifer drive at the National Junior Angus Show on July 11.

The auction lets ranchers and farmers bid to have their brand or logo and text that includes a name, farm or ranch name engraved on a planter at the front of the AAA headquarters.

The planter is the second to be auctioned in this manner and there are two more that will be offered at a later date. The brand or logo can be engraved on one face of the planter along with text that includes a name, farm or ranch name on the face directly across from the brand or logo. The winning bidder will also get to pick the spot for his planter from a choice of three location opportunities.

Wilma Minix, Black Witch Farm, Hoschton, Ga., purchased recognition on the first of the four planters, for $7,500.

The granite planter recognition auction is part of the Angus Foundation's "Building an Angus legacy!" brick naming drive, available only for a limited time through July 15, 2013. Net proceeds from this project will benefit Angus youth, education and research programs.

The American Angus Association front entrance walkway will be completely remodeled with black granite and red brick to match the historic building. Until July 15, for a tax-deductible unrestricted donation of $250, $500 or $2,500 to "Building an Angus legacy!" ranchers can purchase recognition on a personalized engraved granite paver. After July 15, if the Angus Foundation opens a second phase for order submission, prices will go up to include on-site engraving cost.

Only text will be allowed on the granite pavers, and each paver size has line and character limits to follow. Purchasing recognition on a granite planter is the only opportunity to have a brand or logo displayed.

Visit the Angus Foundation website for more information and to order your pavers online, or call the Foundation at 816-383-5100.

The Angus Foundation was established in 1980 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization to support Angus education, youth and research. To learn more about the Angus Foundation and the programs it supports, log on to the website or call 816-383-5100.
