The SmartBox by AMVAC Chemical Corp. has gotten an update that features a new 5-inch format color display, easier installation and by-row flexibility for today's precision farming needs.

The system is designed for precise, closed-delivery application of the leading granular soil insecticides. It is driven by the color display, provides individual control of up to 48 precision SmartBox row meters, or up to 48 multi-row groupings. New features include row shut-off capabilities when used in conjunction with row clutches.

The system can be set up directly from the display, or from a laptop, then transferred to the display with a USB thumb drive. Software compatible with  Microsoft Windows helps the system generate reports required by the EPA, as well as those including application rates by field, acres covered, total application amounts and applications by each operator.

The new system costs roughly $15,300 with mounting brackets extra. For more information on the system and early order discounts (through Feb. 20, 2013).
