American Ag Credit is expanding again.

After completing new officers in Salina and Great Bend, American Ag Credit is starting construction on a new, larger regional headquarters building in Wichita.

The company has purchased 4.5 acres for the new office at 4105 N. Ridge Road, which will provide 35,000 square feet of space for offices and conference rooms to support operations that help lending, appraisal and crop insurance customers.

In addition, the new headquarters will including a conference and training center for up to 100 people where ag groups can meet and conduct business. With raised floors for HVAC and electrical distribution as well as LED  lighting, demountable walls in offices and work stations and natural landscape design.

Chief Administrative Officer Roger Barstow said the current Wichita facility can no longer support the needs of American Ag Credit. The new facility will be the center of operations for lending activity and one of three administrative centers for the company.

"Wichita is a community where we can attract and retain diverse talent," Barstow said. "This talent assures our organization's ability to continue as a strong lender to agriculture."

Regional vice president Greg Reno said the northwest Wichita location provides easy access for customers from all over the state and a convenient location for employees. The addition of the conference and training space also increases opportunities to interact and build relationships with agricultural groups.

"We are considering needs of our customers not just today but 20 to 30 years from now," Reno said. "The business of agriculture is extremely important to this state and our organization's willingness to invest in facilities here underscores our commitment."

Construction on the new building will begin in May and is scheduled for completion in September of 2016. Initial employment is 52 people working in lending, appraisal, accounting, risk management, loan underwriting, legal, operations, marketing and crop insurance.

All of the personnel who currently work in the existing American Ag Credit facility on West Kellogg will move to the new facility.

Spangenberg, Phillips and Tice Architecture designed the new facility and Simpson Construction will be the building. Both firms are located in Wichita. Those firms also designed and built the new American Ag Credit facilities in Salina and Great Bend.
