Agribusiness Council Will Hear From Wildlife and Parks Director
Robin Jennison will be guest of Agribusiness Council of Wichita for Oct. 20 meeting.

Members of the Agribusiness Council of Wichita will get a chance to hear from Robin Jennison, the state's wildlife, parks and tourism director at the upcoming meeting of the organization on Oct. 20. He will be talking about the state's efforts on behalf of wildlife and the challenges that the state faces.

Among the biggest of those challenges is the move by the federal government to list the Lesser Prairie Chicken as a threatened species. Kansas is fighting that designation in court.

The Wichita meeting will be11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Larkspur Restaurant in Old Town. The cost for members is $20 and for non-members is $25. First time attendees will be admitted without charge.

At the Oct. 20 meeting, Jennison will discuss the state's efforts on behalf of wildlife and the challenges that the state faces – among the biggest of those, the move by the federal government to list the Lesser Prairie Chicken as a threatened species. Kansas is fighting that designation in court.

Jennison brings more than 22 years of experience; serving in the Kansas Legislature, influencing state policy on behalf of Kansas interests, and promoting the state's natural assets to expand outdoor recreations. He was selected by Governor Sam Brownback to serve as the Secretary of Wildlife and Parks, which became the Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism on July 1, 2011. He has been a partner in his family's ranch located near Healy for more than 33 years.

Elected to represent the 117th House District, Jennison quickly rose through the ranks, serving as Assistant Majority leader in his second term, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee in his third term, House Majority Leader in his fourth term and finally, Speaker of the House. He was also a candidate for Governor in 2006.

As a past president of Jennison Government Services, Robin represented businesses, associations, groups and other entities before the state legislature and regulatory agencies of Kansas. Robin is a well-respected and knowledgeable hunter who anchored the Kansas Outdoors Radio Show for four years.
