Addition will build high horsepower Challenger and Massey Ferguson machines.

AGCO officials say they will be building high horsepower Massey Ferguson and Challenger wheeled tractors on an expanded assembly line in Jackson, Minnesota, by the end of the year.

In today's announcement Bob Crain, senior vice president and general manager for AGCO in North America told his audience this move "is one more aspect of AGCO's commitment to bringing high-quality products and the latest technologies to producers in North America."

The 75,000-square-foot addition to the Jackson plant is expected to add 100 manufacturing jobs to the community. In addition, a 17,000-square-foot visitors center capable of entertaining up to 10,000 guests, is predicted to generate another 95 jobs in Jackson. Overall, the manufacturing payroll will jump by $5.68 million, according to impact studies done by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

"By manufacturing our Massey Ferguson and Challenger mid- to high-horsepower tractors in the United States, we'll be able to offer machines more closely configured to the production practices and needs of our customers here, while also reducing delivery time to both dealers and farmers," Crain explained.

The Jackson factory currently produces Challenger track and articulated 4WD tractors as well as high-flotation applicators and high-clearance sprayers, and employs 900 workers.
