3. China’s effort to shrink its corn stockpile has driven China’s corn prices to their lowest levels in 10 years. – The Wall Street Journal

4. Bayer’s third-quarter profit grew by 6%, powered by its prescription drugs unit, while its crop sciences division saw sales decline and profit increase by only .6% last quarter. The company is in the midst of a merger with Monsanto. – Farm Futures

It seems pumpkin thieves are busy the week before Halloween. Four men in a minivan stole nearly 200 pumpkins worth more than $2,000 from a New Jersey farm on Oct. 25. The thieves were filmed on surveillance footage. – USA Today

In Arizona, 300 pumpkins, valued at about $3,000 were stolen from a farm in a Phoenix suburb. – CBS News
