4. USDA Agriculture Marketing Service withdrew its grass-fed marketing claim standard, saying it didn’t fit their statutory mandate. The voluntary standard had been in place since 2006. The Food Safety and Inspection Service takes over.  – Farm Futures

5. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Microsoft officials announced the winners of the USDA-Microsoft Innovation Challenge. Contestants used USDA agriculture production open data to develop online tools. – Farm Futures

6. California’s almond growers expanded their groves to keep up with demand, but global demand has dropped as prices rose, with some buyers refusing to honor contracts.  – Mother Jones 

7. CBDRx, the organic hemp company located in Colorado, announced it has received USDA Organic Certification for its entire hemp crop. CBDRx specializes in the development, cultivation, processing and wholesale distribution of hemp-based CBD products, which may be used by the wellness, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical industries. — Virtual-Strategy Magazine
