1. Clayton Murphy, 21, grew up showing hogs and this week became an Olympic medalist. Murphy won bronze in the 800-meter race on Monday night. He grew up on the family farm in New Paris, Ohio. – Yahoo Sports

2. Republican presidential nominee Donald J. Trump announced the members of his Agricultural Advisory Team on Tuesday. Charles Herbster of Nebraska is the national chairman and Sam Clovis of Iowa is the national chief policy advisor on the committee. – Farm Futures

China takes steps to protect its food supply, kids still at risk on the farm and farm economy forces farmers into bankruptcy.

3. Farmers are struggling to make ends meet and with another record harvest predicted for this fall, there’s little hope commodity prices will rise. Low prices have pushed some farmers into bankruptcy. - MPR

5. Missouri’s largest peach farmer believes he is one of many farmers impacted by dicamba drift from unauthorized use of the herbicide. Out of his 900 acres, 200 to 250 acres will need to be removed because of the damage they suffered. – St. Louis Post-Dispatch

6. AgriBank announced its net income grew 15.2% in the second quarter compared to the same period last year. Credit quality of the retail loan portfolio has declined to 95.5% acceptable as of June 30, 2016, compared to 97.3% at the end of last year. – Farm Futures

7. A July report from the National Children’s Center for Rural and Agricultural Health and Safety shows children are still at risk on farms. Every three days, a child dies in an agriculture-related incident. – USA Today
