All-new Allied Angus Breeders Scholarship provides $1,000 awards to three youth

The Allied Angus Breeders Scholarship, a new addition to the Angus Foundations' efforts to invest in industry youth, has awarded three $1,000 scholarships to youth who use Angus genetics in their seedstock or commercial operations.

The first-ever Allied Angus Breeders Scholarship recipients are: Shelby Schiefelbein, Kimball, Minn., a Texas A&M University sophomore; Callie Kukuchka, Belle Fourche, S.D., a South Dakota State University freshman; and Nico Menjivar, Lompoc, Calif., a Conners State College sophomore.

All-new Allied Angus Breeders Scholarship provides $1,000 awards to three youth

"The Angus Foundation is thrilled to award these three outstanding youth with scholarships for the coming school year," says Milford Jenkins, Angus Foundation president. "They are the future leaders of the breed and our beef cattle industry, and we hope these scholarships will help them reach their goals of acquiring a higher education."

Five judges comprised of two Angus Foundation directors, two Angus industry representatives and one beef cattle industry leader, evaluated the applications and selected the recipients based on academic achievements, agricultural involvement, and answer to four essay questions on the beef cattle industry and the Angus breed.

Full details of eligibility requirements can be found on the Angus Foundation website, and applications for 2016 will be available on the website Dec. 1.
