Stay on track, even in the dark

When you've got a tight window for crop input or spraying applications, being able to operate at night can be crucial to saving yields. Raven Industries' new automated SmarTrax steering system allows you to upgrade your lightbar guidance system to an automated-steering system that can keep your field operations going around the clock, if necessary.

SmarTrax helps producers get more out of their initial investment in a lightbar guidance system, says Troy Schroeder, marketing manager for Raven Industries. “You're no longer limited by darkness or poor visibility. And SmarTrax improves field efficiency, while reducing operator fatigue.”

The SmarTrax controller provides pass-to-pass accuracy within 8 in., at speeds up to 20 mph, making it practical for a range of applications such as spraying, tillage and broad-acre seeding. By eliminating application overlap, the system also helps cut herbicide, fertilizer and fuel costs.

It's easy to install and operate and was developed to work with the company's Swath Smart lightbar and any GPS receiver that transmits a standard NMEA string, Schroeder says. “That means it's compatible with most GPS receivers now available,” he says. “It's also the most affordable automated-steering system on the market.”

Raven's complete SmarTrax Elite guidance system retails for $8,500. The SmarTrax Advance upgrade kit sells for $5,300. For more information, contact Raven Industries, Dept. FCD, Box 5107, Sioux Falls, SD 57117, 800/243-5435, visit or, or circle 48.
