John Deere announced a new model of sprayer – the R4045 – which features higher horsepower and large capacity. This is a new sprayer added to the company’s 4 Series lineup of sprayers, which came out last year. And this model replaces the 4940 sprayer.

The larger size and capacity of the 4045 makes it ideal for large farms and service providers. Its engine is a 346 hp Final Tier 4 PowerTech PSS 9.0L with four-wheel hydrostatic drive. Operating speed maxes out at 25 mph while transport speed is up to 35 mph.

Dry or liquid nutrients can be used with the new sprayer. A 1,200-gallon solution tank for liquid applications has the option of 90-, 100-, or 120-foot dual swing-link suspenson, flat-fold booms. And it can apply 230 gallons per minute. For dry nutrients, a 200- or 300-cubic foot New Leader dry spinner spreader can be installed.

Standard and premium CommandView II Plus cab options are available. A redesigned CommandARM has an integrated GreenStar 3 CommandCenter which is more comfortable and allows for finger-tip control of all machine operations. A Target Fill feature allows the operator to put in the desired fill level on a keypad, and a sensor inside the tanks shows the volume during the filling process.

A direct injection system is an optional feature that makes for quick changeovers and cleanouts. And boom height can be adjusted from 19 in. to 92 in.

The new sprayer features the latest technology available from John Deere, including AutoTrac, section control, JD Mobile Weather and AgLogic. JDLink allows for remote access to the sprayer’s display. And that GreenStar display has more memory, a touch screen, video capabilities and it’s ISOBUS compatible.
