The On Target Application Academy for hands-on sprayer training is being offered throughout the Midwest at no cost to growers and custom applicators. The next training sessions are scheduled Tuesday, July 17, at Iowa State University, and Wednesday, July 18, at Purdue Diagnostic Training Center (see below).

The sprayer academy features extensive hands-on training that is led by Bob Wolf of Wolf Consulting and Research. The program covers new application technologies to help growers achieve the most effective and sustainable weed control possible. It also includes information on mitigating spray drift, plant biology, and advancements in product chemistries.

The academy was developed by Wolf, TeeJet Technologies and BASF with input from growers.

“At the heart of the training is a detailed overview of new product and equipment technologies, training on proper equipment setup, including calibration, nozzle selection and clean-out, and a review of best practices for self-application,” Wolf said. “State certification courses and exams are important steps in ensuring proper herbicide application. The On Target Application Academy supplements these efforts, offering more detail around best management practices and factors that affect proper application.”
