Soybean Management Field Days, presented by Nebraska Extension and the Nebraska Soybean Board, are back in 2021 at four locations in August.

The field days schedule begins Aug. 10 at the Jerome Fritz farm in Wilcox. From there, on Aug. 11, the field days move to the Kevin Dinslage farm in Elgin. On Aug. 12, the program will be at the Bart and Geoff Ruth farm near Rising City, with the schedule closing out Aug. 13 at the Mike Fuchs farm near Arlington.

The popular annual event will address issues important to farmers in the state and on an international level, while also providing the opportunity to learn about the various Nebraska Soybean Board research, marketing and education efforts.

Profitable programs

From an agronomic standpoint, producers receive cutting-edge research information and are able to see that research in the field, and hear from the researchers. Hourlong presentations rotate from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day of the event, with registration beginning at 9 a.m.

Some of the sessions planned for this year’s field days include grain marketing and cropland cash rental rates in 2021, and strategies for soybean gall midge and insect and disease management in cover crops.

Researchers will discuss interseeding cover crops into soybeans, along with evaluating soybean varieties, cover crop plantings, herbicide placement and weed management under these interseeding systems. Soybean production and cover crops will also be presented, looking at water use, planting rates, row spacing, planting dates, maturity groups and irrigation management.

The programming and lunch are complimentary. Get directions to the field day locations and all of the details on program presenters at extension.unl.edu.
