At their recent field day in Union City, Tenn., representatives from Bayer CropScience provided an update on the anticipated 2020 launch of their three-trait-stack XtendFlex soybean varieties that will allow over-the-top applications of glufosinate, glyphosate, and dicamba.

The Bayer representatives advised those farmers in attendance to stick with dicamba-tolerant soybean varieties until their operations needed the flexibility the new XtendFlex soybean varieties will bring to the table. “You will be able to make applications at various growth stages with these XtendFlex varieties,” says Todd Ladd, technical agronomist - Kentucky, Bayer CropScience.

“We currently have fields in seed production, and farmers across the United States participating in our Ground Breaker’s program, which is similar in design to our New Product Evaluator (NPE) program that’s been successful through the years allowing growers to evaluate our cotton germplasm before it is commercially released,” says Ladd.

The Philippines, China and several other export countries have given their approval to XtendFlex soybeans. “We are currently waiting on approval from the European Union,” says Lisa Streck, North America soybean launch lead, Bayer CropScience. “We are looking forward to the launch of this new and much-needed technology.”
