As part of our 75th birthday, we look back at interesting editorial stories during each decade (see 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s).

For fun, we’re also taking a look at the some of the advertising during each decade, since these valuable companies provide the revenue that helps us send you a free magazine.

Check out these advertisements that we found when examining back issues from January through December 1985. You’ll find a familiar theme of herbicides saving farmers money. Check out these familiar company and brand names like Funk’s G, Ciba-Geigy, ICI Americas, Rhone-Poulenc, Union Carbide, Sandoz, American Cyanamid, Sperry New Holland, Case IH merger, Deutz-Allis merger, Butler, Scepter, Basagran, Poast, Tandy computers (with sound effects), Sencor, Fusilade, Larvin and more.

And ICYMI: Here is Part I of the advertising gallery.
