You can still sign up for the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council’s “See for Yourself” tour to grain export terminals in the Pacific Northwest. The trip is free, and the deadline to apply is Monday, Jan. 16.
On March 13-16, farmers selected for the trip will see where many of their soybeans go after leaving the farm and how they are processed at export locations on their way to overseas customers. More than 60% of South Dakota soybeans are exported each year.
Tour stops include port facilities, Tacoma Export Marketing Co., the Port of Grays Harbor, an AGP export facility, BNSF Railway and a biodiesel facility.
Airfare, lodging, meals and most other expenses will be covered by the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council. South Dakota soybean farmers interested in participating can find more information and complete an application on the council’s website at sdsoybean.org.
