State and national groups both offer college aid.

The Nebraska Grain Sorghum Producers Association is offering a $400 scholarship to a graduating high school senior or to a student currently enrolled in post-high school education.

To qualify, the student must pursuing a career in agriculture or an ag-related field. If the applicant is currently enrolled in college, his/her studies must be ag-oriented.

Also, the applicant's parents or guardian must be a member of the Nebraska Grain Sorghum Producers Association.

A committee appointed by the Nebraska Grain Sorghum Producers Association will select one winner and one alternate, both of whom will be notified by May 1.

Deadline for applying for the 2008 Nebraska Grain Sorghum Producers Association Scholarship is Feb. 1, 2008. Obtain an application form by contacting NeGSPA at P.O. Box 94982, Lincoln, NE 68509 or call 402-471-3552. Or email [email protected].

In addition, the National Grain Sorghum Producers is offering the "The Sorghum Challenge" to college students, which includes a $750 scholarship and a trip to Washington, D.C., with the National Sorghum Producers.
