SOIL STEWARDSHIP: A full day of learning is scheduled for the Soil Stewardship and Nutrient Management Field Day, set for Sept. 1 near Albany, Minn. A farmer panel will share experiences at 1 p.m.Paula Mohr

Soil health and nutrient management play a large role in making sure landowners can achieve sustainability and profit for years to come. To help farmers learn how to improve their soil health and learn proper nutrient management, a Soil Stewardship and Nutrient Management Field Day is being planned for Sept. 1 near Albany, Minn.

This full-day event will include presentations on soil health, the 4 R’s of nutrient and manure management, ag data stewardship, a farmer panel, and equipment demonstrations in the field.

Featured topics are tailored to farmers, industry partners, agronomists and crop advisers, specialists and farms across the state to learn more about conservation and soil health.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with the field day kicking off at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. Following lunch, participants will have the opportunity to hear from local farmers who have been working on improving their soil health. After the farmer panel, live equipment demonstrations will begin. The field day is expected to wrap up at 2:30 p.m.

Preregistration is required.

This event will be held at a nearby field. Visit the Stearns County SWCD website to view a map on how to arrive to the field. Signs will be posted along roads.

This field day is organized by the Stearns County Soil and Water Conservation District, Centra Sota, Soil Warrior, The Nature Conservancy, All Acres for Our Water, Minnesota Ag Water Resources Center, and the University of Minnesota Extension.
