Farm safety. It's a topic that doesn't bring high readership, until something bad happens. Yet every farmer wants to work safely. This week's episode of Around Farm Progress takes a look at the issue from two perspectives.

First, Holly Spangler, Prairie Farmer, shares her insights after a story she wrote about the loss of a farmer in a grain bin in August. But the conversation goes farther, exploring the challenges writers have in conveying safety information to farmers. We know it's important but it's not always easy and Spangler shares her perspective on it. As an Illinois farmer she sees the dangers on the farm.

Second, Curt Arens, Nebraska Farmer, offers a look at a new tool that could keep farmers out of grain bins. It's a robot that works through crusted grain so a farmer doesn't have to. Arens shares how it works, and the interesting story of how two young engineering students got the idea.

Give it a listen.
