Stu Rothenberg, widely recognized political analyst, will address Delta 1000 members and the Delta Council board of directors at 9:30 a.m. before the May 18 Delta Council annual meeting in Cleveland, Miss.

“Stu Rothenberg told Delta Council directors and Delta 1000 members last May that the congressional majority would change in both House and Senate, because Americans were disgruntled with the status quo,” stated Kent Wyatt, Delta Council executive committee chairman. “I don’t believe one person in the audience that day believed that Rothenberg was on target — maybe the House, but I know of no one who was predicting that the Senate majority would change,” Wyatt added.

Rothenberg will address the standing room only group of Delta Council directors and Delta 1000 members in the McPherson Room of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus of Delta State University.

Rothenberg has addressed Delta Council many times during the past decade. As an analyst for CNN and Roll Call Magazine, Rothenberg has become a respected voice in American politics and U.S. elections.

Delta 1000 is a program begun by Delta Council over 30 years ago to ask all members of Delta Council to pay $100 above and beyond their regular membership dues. Support through the Delta 1000 program has helped Delta Council maintain one of the most effective area-wide economic development programs in the nation.

The Delta Council annual meeting will be held at the Bologna Performing Arts Center, Delta State University, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Delta Council meeting, highlighted by Sen. Saxby Chambliss’ keynote address, is scheduled to conclude at noon, when the Delta Council members and guests will move to the university quadrangle for a fried catfish lunch on the grounds.

The 72nd Delta Council annual meeting is sponsored by BankPlus, Delta Regional Medical Center, KBH Corporation, Land Banks of Mississippi, Morgan Keegan, and Jimmy Sanders.
