Rachel Trego, an international economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service, will discuss China’s role in the global rice market in a University of Arkansas webinar Thursday, March 8 at 3 p.m. Central Time.

Trego is the team leader for food grains analysis within the Office of Global Analysis and is responsible for analyzing the global wheat and rice markets and reporting on supply and demand and price information.  She contributes to the monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report and to USDA baseline and outlook forecasting activities.  Previously, she served as an oilseed commodity analyst.  She has worked with USDA since 2009 and has conducted agricultural market research in China, India, Vietnam, Nigeria, Egypt, Haiti, and other foreign markets. 

Bobby Coat, professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, University of Arkansas System, Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Service, will host the webinar.
