The drought that has caused massive agricultural losses in Texas is also having an impact on South Louisiana, though not in the same way. Rice growers in the four parishes closest to the Gulf have been battling salt water problems ever since Hurricane Rita struck the area in 2005. Michael Hensgens is a rice producer and seed supplier for the region. He provided an update on the situation in an interview at the USA Rice Outlook Conference in Austin, Texas.
