The 2011 LSU AgCenter Rice Research Station's Rice Cam field (planted on April 12) will have foundation seed production of three Clearfield varieties. Each variety will be planted on approximately four acres. When viewing the field, the three varieties are (left to right) CL151, CL131, and CL161. Each variety will be seeded at approximately 45 pounds per acre.

“We move the camera around,” says  Steve Linscombe, researcher and coordinator of the Rice Research Station in Crowley, La. “It’s on all during the growing season. This is the fifth year we’ve run the camera.”

In conjunction with the camera, Linscombe and colleagues “plan to blog and point out various growth stages and some things producers, or others, might find interesting. We get a lot of hits on it.

“When I’m overseas or away from home, I click on the link and see what the weather is doing around Crowley.”
