The latest issues affecting California rice farmers will be discussed during upcoming annual grower meetings held by the California Rice Commission (CRC) scheduled for Jan. 13.

Topics will include: the latest CRC activities, an update on state legislative issues by George Soares of the law firm Kahn, Soares and Conway; and an update on federal issues by Randy Russell of the government relations firm Russell and Barron.

“These meetings provide a lot of information on issues important to our farming operations,” said CRC Chairman Charley Mathews, a Yuba County rice farmer. “There’s a lot of insight available from experts about state and federal developments that affect our industry.”

The morning session will begin at 9:00 at the Bonanza Inn Magnuson Grand Hotel in Yuba City. An afternoon meeting will be held at 1:00 at the Colusa Casino Resort Conference Center in Colusa. Registration will be held 30 minutes prior to the meeting start.

All members of the rice industry are encouraged to attend.
