Confused. That’s the way Johnny Saichuk describes Louisiana’s 2011 rice crop. This year’s weather has been extremely erratic, leaving farmers to scratch their heads. Saichuk, who is based at the LSU Rice Research Station, says the lack of normal rainfall has also led to problems with salt water. Saichuk made his comments during an interview at this year’s Rice Research Station Field Day.
