Case IH has expanded its line of Early Riser 1250 planters, now offering 12- and 16-row options. With a narrow transport width of less than 12 ft., the new planters offer a wing flex of 21° up and 21° down.

The new offerings come standard with the Case IH Advanced Seed Metering system, featuring a larger-diameter seed disk. Growers can choose either on-row or bulk-fill seed hoppers, or a large-capacity bulk fill option with two 50-bu. hoppers. Also an option is a liquid fertilizer tank.

Growers have the choice of mechanical or hydraulic transmission, with an advanced AFS Pro 600 touch screen display or a basic Early Riser IV monitor.

NH3 Dirt Dog, Inc. introduces a sidedress shield. The Dirt Dog redirects soil normally picked up and tossed by the knife shank, sending it straight back downward with a control flow pattern that ensures knife shank slot coverage.

A simple bolt-on device, Dirt Dog is adjustable to varying soil conditions, but is not intended for use in mud. A rolling cutter ahead of the knife shank eliminates much of the trash pickup problems, as do adjustment recommendations.

The T5000 series utility tractors are new from New Holland. Ranging from 70 to 96 PTO hp, the new models have four-cylinder engines that are turbocharged and intercooled. Maximum engine speed is 2,300 rpm, and the powerplants are approved for use with B100 biodiesel.

The hydraulic gear pump has increased flow, and there is a separate steering pump for the hydrostatic steering system. A combining valve sends excess hydraulic flow to the optional mid-mount loader valve with joystick.

With larger, heavier front and rear axles, the T5000s have over 10,000 lbs. capacity. Three-point lower flexible link ends are standard on all models.

The four models are available in standard and deluxe configurations with a flat-deck platform or all-weather cab. Available in two- or four-wheel drive, standard models have a 12×12 Synchro Command manual transmission, with an optional 20×12 creeper transmission for low-speed applications. Deluxe models come with four-wheel drive and a 24×24 Dual Command transmission with electro-hydraulic PTO engagement.
