Case IH announces new Early Riser 1260 planters. Available in 36- or 32-row configurations, it can plant 20-, 22- or 30-in. rows, depending on the model. The 1260 transports at 13 ft. 8 in., and has a steerable rear axle option that helps it follow the same path as the tractor during turns. The 36-row 30-in. configuration puts just 3,240 lbs. on the hitch, with the 22-in.-row model coming in at 2,240 lbs.

The scissor hitch lifts the toolbar to the level position and automatically captures and locks in the wings. Wing and carrier wheels on the 1260 are walking tandem wheels, and wing flex of 20° upward and downward provide great flexibility.

Exclusive on the 1260 is the Case IH advanced seed meter system, featuring a larger-diameter, slower-turning seed disk. This provides seed placement accuracy for a wide range of seed sizes, even at faster-than-normal speeds. Also standard are two central-fill, 60-bu. hoppers.

Options on the 1260 include pneumatic down pressure control, which is adjustable from the cab. ADS AccuRow control is an option allowing automatic row shut-off based on GPS. It's controlled by the AFS Pro 600. Also an option is a 600-gal. liquid fertilizer tank.

The Turbo-Chopper, from Great Plains, offers the versatility of a fall tillage tool with the performance of a spring seedbed-prep unit. Models include a 15-ft. 6-in. rigid frame unit and folding units from and 18- to 40.5-ft. working width. All folding models are equipped with a hydraulic weight transfer system.

Equipped with Turbo blades on the front gang, followed by Turbo-Chopper rear gangs, the design provides a crisscross pattern that sizes residue from two directions in one pass. The Turbo gang and chopper gang are suspended by 1×3-in. C-shanks and use heavy-duty 211 rubber-cushioned cast bearings. The 18-in. chopper reels incorporate six 4½-in. high-carbon steel blades. The spiral design allows constant contact with the soil to maximize cutting and reduce vibration.
