Produce convention set: Texas growers will meet in San Antonio Aug 18-20

Eric M. Best, USDA Undersecretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, will be keynote speaker for the Texas Produce Convention and Expo, August 18-20 at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio.

Best will speak during the opening general education session August 19.

Also on the agenda is a panel discussion of the Texas Produce Outlook. Edith Garrett, president of the International Fresh Cut Association will moderate.

Breakout sessions are also scheduled in the afternoon for blueberry, citrus, and watermelon producers.

Watermelon producers also will hear details of a proposed referendum. More than 100 booths will be available in the Expo, highlighting new products and services for the produce industry.

A pre-conference golf tournament is scheduled for Aug. 18.
