Pro Mark launches PGRIV Plus

Pro Mark Group Inc., a Memphis-based agricultural marketing group, has launched PGRIV Plus, a newer version of PGRIV that now includes Bacillus cereus, a patented ingredient that improves a cotton plant's ability to withstand or offset stress.

The new product gives cotton producers more uniform plant growth despite inclement environments, according to Chuck Keyes, spokesperson for the Pro Mark Group.

“PGRIV Plus with B. cereus allows and directs better carbohydrate partitioning as well as increased nutrient uptake and translocation. PGRIV and Bacillus cereus work together to aid in boll retention and boll development,” he said.

“Crop stresses and environmental conditions constantly challenge or strain cotton plants throughout the growing season,” Keyes said. “PGRIV Plus increases the cotton plant's overall growth efficiency, offering cotton growers the potential for improved production.”

“With the depressed cotton prices the industry is experiencing, growers must get the maximum return for every input dollar invested and must optimize the actual marketable fiber produced on each cotton acre,” said Pro Mark Group associate Randy Cook. “PGRIV Plus allows growers to harvest more of their early-season yield potential by allowing the cotton plant to run at a higher capacity during the peak boll-filling period.”

PGRIV Plus was granted an EPA registration in October 2000. The company has tested this product over the past four seasons with universities and consultants in a wide range of conditions, varieties, geographic areas and management systems.

“After years of testing, we are completely confident that this product has a commercial fit in our evolving cotton production systems” Keyes says. “We have modified the product formulation, timing of application, use rates and application methods so that PGRIV Plus produces consistent and predictable results for cotton growers who use it and retailers and/or consultants who recommend it.”

PGRIV Plus should be applied broadcast at a rate of 1 ounce per acre during the “active” fruit development stage. PGRIV Plus is an essential ingredient in cotton growers' overall planned production program. PGRIV Plus is compatible with most of the commonly used herbicides, insecticides, other plant growth regulators and foliar fertilizers labeled for this type of application in cotton.
