Piggybacking on the popular iPhone and iPad operating system, new AgJunction Mobile from Hemisphere GPS brings key elements of the AgJunction precision agriculture data services platform to the field.

AgJunction Mobile is an in-field data collection system featuring GPS-enabled boundary mapping and soil sampling. In short order, it also will display yield, planting, as-applied, aerial imagery, soil sampling and electrical conductivity data as background layers for viewing and to help guide field sampling.

Developed in conjunction with Cogent3D and its PrecisionEarth platform, AgJunction Mobile for iOS automatically synchronizes data with the AgJunction cloud system. AgJunction users can download the app from the App Store and enter their license key, user name and password. From there, the application will automatically manage the two-way transfer of data between AgJunction Mobile and the AgJunction online data storage system, eliminating the need to move data files manually.

“The iOS and mapping expertise of Cogent3D has allowed us to quickly develop a convenient method for AgJunction customers to capture and synchronize their field data,” says Jeff Dearborn, general manager of AgJunction. “The field data, when combined with the other AgJunction data management services, greatly improves the efficiency and accuracy in the analysis and application of precision agriculture techniques.”

Grower access to AgJunction and AgJunction Mobile is available through agricultural retailers using the AgJunction platform. Hemisphere GPS purchased AgJunction from GVM, Inc., in January 2012. For more information, visit www.agjunction.com.
