Data collection in the field

HarvestMaster says its Field Research Software (FRS) provides a comprehensive solution for mobile field data collection. The company released two new software programs for the FRS suite: FRS for Laptop and FRS NoteTaking and Harvest.

With FRS NoteTaking and Harvest version 2.1, growers can collect electronic field notes for field plot observations, flowering and maturity notes, and on-combine measurements from the HarvestMaster Plot Harvest Data Systems. FRS is a Windows Mobile application for the Allegro Field PC.

"This new release incorporates many recommendations from agriculture researchers. It is faster, easier to use, and more reliable than earlier versions," says Keith Hunt, agriculture product manager.

FRS for Laptop brings the FRS NoteTaking and Harvest functionality to a full-screen PC running Windows XP, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. This allows a grower to use a laptop or other PC device mounted in the combine with the HarvestMaster HM800 Plot Harvest Data Systems. It features a full-screen display showing both spatial and tabular data views during the data-collection process.

Version 2.1 of FRS NoteTaking and Harvest is available as a free upgrade to anyone with an FRS license. FRS Laptop retails for $1,995. FRS Note Taking retails for $549, and the Harvest module retails for $299. Contact HarvestMaster, Dept. FIN, 1132 West 1700 North, Logan, UT 84321, 435/753-1881,
