Precision ag viticulture field day June 28

A free viticulture precision farming field day will be held June 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Bianchi Winery and Vineyard, Paso Robles, Calif. It is sponsored by Templeton-based Precision Ag, Inc., and will include discussions and demonstrations on how to read and interpret soil moisture monitoring graphs and aerial images.

“We planned the field day to help growers and farm managers better understand the use of information that can be obtained from these precision farming tools,” says Lowell Zelinski, Precision Ag president and consultant.

“Soil moisture monitoring equipment is an invaluable tool in water conservation and effective irrigation management. Aerial images can help growers manage vigor, locate problem areas, and market fruit, and can be used as tools for harvest sampling and scheduling for winemakers.

Zelinski is an irrigation and fertility specialist with more than 26 years experience in the agriculture industry. He has a doctorate in soil-plant-water relations from the University of California at Davis and is a former University of California Cooperative farm advisor.

A free lunch will be served, but pre-registration is required for lunch. For more information or to register, call (805) 239-8200, fax name and contact information to (805) 239-8262, or visit
