New Tractor Series

New Holland's six new tractor models in the TM series range from 95 to 160 PTO hp. The tractors feature a 65° maximum turn angle for sharp, fast turns with greater tire clearance and a turnaround diameter of 22' without braking. An electronic traction system combines fully automatic FWD with front and rear differential lock engagement. A touch-pad control allows the operator to choose between manual and automatic. TM 175 and TM 190 models feature a custom headland system that records up to 28 tasks, including three-point raise and lower functions, transmission gear, engine rpms and cruise control. TM models in the 95- to 125-hp range are equipped with semi-powershift transmissions for nine speeds from 2 to 7 mph.

Mid-Range Tractors

Massey Ferguson introduces a series of tractors ranging from 45 to 69 PTO hp. The 400 series has a turning radius as little as 10-12', with speeds from 1 to 21 mph. Optional 8F/8R synchronized shuttle gear box comes on the two larger models. The MF 451 boasts 22.4 gpm total hydraulic flow while the 471 and 481 models have 24.6 gpm. Other standard features on the 400 series include: 2-post, axle-mounted, foldable ROPS; semi-flat platform; swinging drawbar; toolbox; front weight frame with tow pin and a pullout front grill.

Flip Switch And Powershift

McCormick International introduces the speed sequencer transmission as an option on its MC series and MTX series tractors. The conventional range lever is replaced by a multi-function controller, providing fingertip operation of all transmission speeds. Lever functions include speed/range change, range skip-shift, soft shift for gears 9-16 and hitch raise/lower. The electronic control disconnects the shuttle clutch, then regulates the synchronizers' movement to assure a positive, smooth shift.

Combine Upgrades

The AFX rotor, a new design by Case IH, increases throughput capacity from 5 to 25% depending on combine model. A graduated pitch inlet on the rotor flights transition crop from the feeder to the rotor cage promoting consistent flow of material from feeder to threshing and separating areas. The rasp-bar configuration has been redesigned to reduce wear and tear on threshing components, improve throughput, quiet operation and reduce hp requirements in tough harvesting conditions. The rotor can be retrofitted into late-model 1688, 2188 and 2388 Axial-Flow combines.
