Delmarva poultry growers who were largely left out of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program are now eligible for grants through a new program announced Monday.

Contract poultry growers in Maryland who have not gotten CFAP assistance can get up to $1,000 per house for up to five houses. Growers whose flocks were depopulated during the pandemic are eligible for an additional $1,500 per house.

The Delaware Contract Poultry Grower Grant Assistant Program will also compensate growers up to $1,000 per poultry house up to a maximum payment of $5,000 per farm. In addition, any grower who had to depopulate birds remaining in-house for composting related to COVID-19 will receive another $1,500 per poultry house depopulated, without a cap.

For Maryland poultry growers who have already received CFAP money, an additional 15% bonus on top of their CFAP payment is available. The deadline to apply for either program is Dec. 1. For more information, go to the Maryland Department of Agriculture.

Applications for the Delaware Contract Poultry Grower Grant Assistant Program are available online at the Delaware Department of Agriculture.
