William Walker plants cotton in Fayette County, Tenn.Brent Murphree
Planting has just about wrapped up across the Midsouth. Corn, soybeans, rice, peanuts and cotton are in various stages of early development as this crop year begins.
In the last two weeks Farm Press has visited at least two farms which were in the middle of planting – Walker Farms, Fayette County, Tenn., and Eastside Farms, in Monroe County, Miss.
Walker Farms began planting cotton in a 225-acre field outside of Somerville, Tenn., on May 13. Eastside Farms was planting peanuts outside of Aberdeen, Miss., on May 19.
